St. John's Young Adults Fellowship

Our Patron: The eagle is representative of St. John, who is the patron saint of the fellowship. The eagle usually symbolizes St. John. An eagle has no eyelids yet can gaze straight into the sun while flying and not be hurt. In the same way, St. John can look into the depths of Christ and come to understand Him in a way few of us can. In the book of Revelations, there are four creatures mentioned, one of them is an eagle. This eagle is also interpreted to be a symbol of St. John. The reason for the cross in the middle is also symbolic. The natural eagle looks straight as the sun and can see it's depths. Our goal is to look straight at the Son (Jesus) and reflect on His nature. To be filled with His spirit and have it reflected in our lives as well. This way all people can see Christ in us.

Our Mission: "Depth, Reflection, Revelation."  It was developed as a kind of a wide umbrella for our retreats. We seek to enter into the depths of the topic for the retreat, to reflect upon the subject matter, and to reveal to ourselves and to those around us what God has put in our hearts. This goes very well with St. John who has done the same thing in his relationship with Christ. This incredible depth is seen in the unique perspective of the Gospel according to St. John, commonly referred to as the "I am" gospel.

Who Are We: We are simply the young adults of St. Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church. Our class is composed of men and women who are either in college or are recent graduates.

Events Past:  Every year the group goes on our private retreat to give us a chance to bond together as a group away from our hectic lives. In May, 2001 we went to Ocean City . Also, a page is under construction for the May 2003 retreat, but there is an index of pictures.
